Bills, groceries, household expenses…they all add up. After everything is paid for, many regular families are left with little to nothing to spare.
That was exactly the situation Sara Moore Gruver found herself in on Monday. But with three eager kids and the summer still very much upon us, they begged mom for some ice cream. Her reply? Sadly, with just $20 in her bank account, Sara told her children that they just couldn’t afford it this week. That’s when her kids started praying.
Sara wrote about their next trip to the grocery store:
“On the way home … my kids begged for ice cream. Begged. Cried real tears. All the drama. I said no. I’m short on money and I might need that $20 before payday.”
But instead of resorting to full-on meltdowns, her children did something so unexpected.
They began to pray.
Sara wrote that her young kids said:
“God, we’d really love some ice cream. Is there any way you can give mommy some money so we can get some ice cream tonight? We know you can. Thank you.”
Exasperated, Sara said that God was simply too busy taking care of those affected by Hurricane Harvey. But they persisted.
Her children had faith that there would be money to spare when the family arrived home. Sure enough…
After 10 years, the money came to her door just when she needed it the most. Some might say it was a miracle.
Now, her story has the internet cheering.
As thanks, Sara not only bought her kids ice cream, but also donated money to help the Red Cross to serve those in Texas and Louisiana.
