There are few stars as universally lovable and endearing as Michael J. Fox. He made his way into our hearts at Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties, and we’ve watched his life change dramatically over the last 40 years. Michael married his Family Ties co-star Tracy Pollan in 1988, and the pair share four children, Sam 35, Aquinnah, 29, Schuyler, 29, and Esme, 23. His children have stayed mostly out of the spotlight but don’t shy away from supporting their father.

In 1991, the retired actor received a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. And while he initially kept his condition quiet, he has since become an advocate for those fighting the degenerative disease. On November 18, Michael J. Fox’s family gathered to celebrate their father at his foundation’s 2024 gala. The proud dad shared photos on Instagram, and his children beamed.
Michael J. Fox And His Family Hope To End Parkinson’s Disease
Michael shared photos from the Funny Thing gala along with a sweet message thanking Stevie Nicks, Denis Leary, and others. It reads in part, “Grateful to everyone who makes #FoxGala one of the best nights in philanthropy. Together, we can and will end Parkinson’s. We got this.”
A fan thanks Michael J. Fox and his family for always helping others. “Thank you and your family @realmikejfox for the great work you do for Parkinson’s. You give hope. That’s what people need. I wish you joy and love every single moment. Keep on keeping on.”
This fan wanted Michael to know they still love him after all these years. “Such a beautiful family and you’re as handsome as ever. “Alex” was my TV crush! Keep fighting; the world needs more ppl like you!”
According to its website, the Michael J. Fox Foundation continues to raise incredible amounts of money: “Since its start in 2000, MJFF has funded $2 billion in high-impact research programs—of which the gala has helped raise more than $118 million, including $4 million at the 2024 event alone. Thanks to the Foundation’s Board of Directors, 100 percent of proceeds from the evening are rapidly deployed to support the Foundation’s momentum toward a cure.”
