Pets are one of the greatest parts of life!
Maxx Chewning of Stafford, Texas, said he didn’t even know he was missing something until he adopted a labradoodle puppy last year. He’d been wanting a dog for a while, but when he brought Dood home, it became the best decision he’s ever made!

Maxx and Dood are now best friends and spend all their time together!
“Dood is a very energetic puppy who loves to be around people as much as possible,” Maxx said. “He goes with me everywhere I go, and I bring him to work every day. Every time I walk through the door, he bursts up from the ground and greets me with a bundle of energy and love.”
As Dood’s first birthday approached in November, Maxx started thinking about ways to honor his canine companion. He wanted to do something over-the-top, so he decided to rent a giant electronic billboard in town and plaster Dood’s smiling face all over it. His friends thought he was nuts, but Maxx didn’t let that stop him!

“I don’t even have a girlfriend, so I’m not spending any money on that,” Maxx said. “So why don’t I spend it all on my dog? Seems like the better option, to be honest.”
When the big day finally arrived, Maxx was more than ready. He recorded their entire celebration, and it’s every dog’s dream! In the video, we see that they start off playing fetch at the park and then head through the Starbucks drive-through for a Puppuccino.

After that, it’s time to check out Dood’s billboard. “If you want to see it, just say nothing,” Maxx tells Dood. Naturally, Dood clams right up, so off they go!
They examine the massive sign together, but to be honest, Dood isn’t all that interested in seeing his face in lights. Odd. His best friend, however, is ecstatic!

Next, the two of them enjoy a special birthday cake (which Maxx says tastes like peanut butter) and return to the billboard to check out the lights at night. Last but not least, Maxx takes Dood to the pet store and lets him choose his own gift.
All in all, this seems like the perfect way to celebrate a BFF’s birthday! Of course, Maxx said nothing was too new: “He gets spoiled every day, so basically his birthday is all the time.”
