Approximately 42,000 Sea Turtles are harvested for food each year around the world and Papua New Guinea is said to be responsible for more than 36% of these animal’s lives.
Arron Culling and his co-worker Mark are two wonderful souls who’ve made it their business to curb the loss of these beautiful creatures from our oceans. Working and living in Papua New Guinea, the duo work to save as many Sea Turtles as they can – so far they’ve rescued 10!
Their most recent rescue operation saved two beautiful animals. They bought the Sea Turtles from a local fish market for $50, drove 5 kilometers up the beach and brought the ocean going beauties home.
Arron carried the turtles one by one from his truck to the edge of the ocean and watched them make their way to the surf, much as they would have as hatchlings.
The triumphant moment when these turtle buddies finally touched the water was a special one indeed. Three cheers for Arron and Mark!
And off they go! Share this beautiful moment with your friends today. It’s up to us to protect the world we live in and be the change, even in the small things.
