Make Way For Ducks! No, Really — This Hotel Gives Its Feathered Guests The Royal Treatment.

The Peabody Hotel in Memphis has been the backdrop to a few films, but this luxurious hotel is most known for their ducks – and not ones on a menu!

It all started in 1940 when the hotel became a temporary home to three ducks. Ever since then, they’ve “hired” new ducks to stay with them for three months at a time before they’re returned to a farm where they happily live out the rest of their lives. But until then, these adorable duckies get the VIP treatment. They spend much of their time in their Royal Duck Palace on the hotel’s rooftop, but every day at 11 a.m. something special happens.

The four ducks get escorted by the Duckmaster to the fountain in the lobby, where they spend six hours splashing around. In order to get the full-royal treatment, a red carpet is rolled out and a matching red staircase is placed at the fountain to make their entrance easier. Guests from across the globe love to gather around to watch, attention that these beloved ducks very much love!

Watch this wholesome tradition unfold below, and don’t forget to share.
