Ladies, We Should Be Looking To Rosie The Riveter For Inspiration.

Rosie the Riveter inspired a generation of women to fill the spots left by men during WWII in the factories, the government, and so many other places.

Though she was more of an idea than an actual person, she has served as a role model of female empowerment for generations of women that followed — including my own. Yet, so many women don’t live by the standards set forth by Rosie.

Even in this day and age, some women continue to claw at each other for jobs, for opportunities, and, worst of all, for men.

Ladies… be more like Rosie!

Even in this day and age, some women like to tear other down with their words, their finger-pointing, and their unwarranted accusations.

Ladies… be more like Rosie!

Even in this day and age, some women continue to smile to another woman’s face but then cut her down when she turns to leave.

Ladies… be more like Rosie!

Even in this day and age, some women judge how another woman parents her own child — whom she carried, nurtured, and loves more than anyone else — as if they know that woman’s child better than she does.

Ladies… be more like Rosie!

Even in this day and age, some women act like mean girls well beyond their teenage years, huddling in a group and cackling like Cinderella’s wicked stepsisters.

Ladies… be more like Rosie!

Even in this day and age, some women choose not to believe another woman when she says she was harassed, raped, or abused because it’s just easier to blame the victim instead.

Ladies… be more like Rosie!

Even in this day and age, some women continue to criticize one woman for staying home with her kids, while the other side criticizes another woman for working full-time outside of her home.

Ladies… be more like Rosie!

We need to stop this stuff. We need to have each other’s backs. We need to build each other up. We need to stop making someone else feel bad just to make yourself feel better. We need to give one another the benefit of the doubt. We need to show our daughters, our nieces, our students, and our sisters how to do better.

Stand up for yourself! Stand up for your friend! Stand up for your sister!

Fight with the courage and conviction women of Rosie’s generation did during their time of great hardship.

Be more like Rosie, and pray that the generation after us won’t need this reminder.
