The novel coronavirus pandemic has given the world a new appreciation for health care workers.
In an ongoing effort to praise and encourage the people on the front lines, “Good Morning America” has been surprising them with celebrity Zoom calls. Dr. Nathalie Douge, who works at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens, New York, was one of them, and her resulting smile is enough to brighten anyone’s day!
For the past few months, Nathalie has been working with some of the sickest people in New York. She described her days as an “emotional roller coaster” because almost all of her patients have COVID-19.
When GMA reporter T.J. Holmes invited Nathalie to do a virtual interview, the world learned how incredible she’s been to these families in need. No matter how sick her patients get, Nathalie refuses to give up on them, and she always goes above and beyond.
After thanking the incredible doctor for her love and dedication, T.J. casually mentioned he’d heard she was a big fan of “American Idol” judge Lionel Richie. That’s when Richie himself popped up on-screen!
Nathalie couldn’t hide her excitement! Not only is she a longtime fan, but she also got to hear a sweet message he had just for her.
“You know what’s so wonderful?” he said. “To see you this happy considering what you do. Listen, my job is just to make people laugh and cry. You save lives, doc, and it’s so special to see you lose it for a moment.”
As if that wasn’t amazing enough, Richie then asked her to call her dad, the man who introduced her to Richie’s music in the first place. Then the father and daughter got to share this unforgettable moment together!
What a delightful surprise! Nathalie deserves this and so much more as she continues to save lives each day.
