Kangaroo Interrupts Aussie Soccer Match & Internet Can’t Stop Making Jokes About It.

Meanwhile, in Australia….

The fact that there are way too many things in Australia that seem determined to kill humans is a long-running internet joke. Between the giant snakes, insects, and massive crocodiles, it seems that all Aussies share a special brand of bravery that the rest of the world will never fully comprehend.

Case in point:

In what many are calling the “most Australia thing ever,” a soccer match was interrupted by a gigantic kangaroo who didn’t give a flying fig about their game.

At the Deakin field in Canberra, Australia, the Blue Devils Football Club was playing against the Canberra Football Club. It was a bright, beautiful day, and the sun was shining off the green grass of the pitch. Then, suddenly, a six foot tall ‘roo came bounding into the crowd.

The impervious critter proceeded to send shocked crowd members flying in the opposite directions. Any Aussie will tell you that kangaroos, while cute, are incredibly dangerous animals.  Using their powerfully muscled tail and hind legs to kick, not to mention their teeth and claws, kangaroos are capable of doing a lot of damage to anyone who gets in their way.

So the crowd and players scattered like the wind as this big fellow hopped wherever his little kangaroo heart desired.

Some brave souls got close enough to kick the ‘roo a soccer ball, hoping maybe he’d get in on the action. But he wasn’t having any of it! After a quick lounge in the outfield, the animal finally decided to head back from whence he came, but not before someone took video that has now gone viral online.

The Twitter reaction was definitely amusing. Some locals said kangaroos on the pitch is a common occurrence:

Are the other kangaroo crashers as athletic as this one, though?

While others agree that if this was a regular thing, more people would be flocking to games.
