There’s almost no worst feeling of knowing something was stolen from you. You feel vulnerable, upset, and can even develop a desire to get revenge. But this brave mother of four did the unexpected, when she had her wallet stolen from her at a local grocery store in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Jessica Eaves was shopping when she noticed her wallet with was missing. Earlier she noticed a man was standing oddly close to her in the store and she realized it was him. In that moment Jessica knew she had a few options: she could call the cops, she could tell store employees, or she could confront the thief. Jessica decided to give the thief a lesson he would not soon forget. She found him in the store, walked right up to him and gave him two choices.
“I’m gonna give you a choice,” Jessica told the man. “You can either give me my wallet and I’ll forgive you right now, and I’ll even take you to the front and pay for your groceries.”
The man knew it was that or have the cops called on him and began to weep at Jessica’s act of grace.

“The last thing he said was, ‘I’ll never forget tonight. I’m broke, I have kids, I’m embarrassed and I’m sorry,” she recounted of the man’s words.
Jessica said she gave the thief an act of mercy was because of a passage she remembered in Luke.
“To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either.”
When she went to buy his groceries, she had another wow moment. She had just enough for him and she doesn’t believe that was a coincidence.
“I never carry cash,” she told the Christian Post. “When I got to the check-out counter that day his total was just a little over $27 and I had $28 in cash in my wallet. And so I knew in that moment it wasn’t me. It was Christ that played in that moment.”
What an incredible act of kindness!
