Kids have a way of cracking their parents up even when they didn’t intend to do so.

Like many lucky moms, actress Jenna Fischer woke up on Mother’s Day morning to find her two children, 7-year-old Weston Lee and 4-year-old Harper Marie, eager to make their mom a delicious breakfast in bed. The former “The Office” star sat up excitedly as the kids came into her room and took her breakfast order. It seemed the day was off to a wonderful start!

(We’re not sure if Sonny the rescue cat was cuddling with Jenna that morning or not, but this picture was too cute not to share!)
Jenna waited eagerly for her kids to bring her a tray of food that their dad, director and actor Lee Kirk, no doubt helped them prepare. She ooh’ed and ah’ed over the flowers, balloons, eggs, and buttered sourdough toast the kids brought her, particularly enjoying the bread that she’d made herself the day before.

In case you didn’t know, Jenna is super into baking. Her Instagram feed is an homage to bread-baking, cookie-making, and all things carbs. In fact, in her page description, she describes herself with tongue firmly in cheek: “Former receptionist, Mom of two, coffee mug collector, BREAD.”
When breakfast was over Jenna was preparing to start her day when the kids returned… with the check. Yep, these two industrious little humans presented their mom with a bill for the breakfast she’d just eaten – including the bread she’d baked herself the day before!

After Jenna stopped laughing, which no doubt took some time, she shared the kids’ bill on her Instagram page with the caption:
“My kids wanted to surprise me with breakfast in bed for Mother’s Day. They came to take my order. At the end, they gave me this bill. I’m dying laughing. They said ‘The New York Times is not always free, that’s just for Mother’s Day.'”
Well, it sure was nice of them to give her a free “New York Times”! What generous little children.

We love how a big star like Jenna still keeps it real! Sharing little tidbits from her life at home make us love her all the more, especially since we know her kids are funny little people too… even if they are a teensy bit mercenary. They’ll outgrow that, right?
