Photog Worried 1-Eyed Pit Bull Would Scare Child, Captures Their Unexpected Bond.

Tennessee-based photographer Jamie Muller is the proud owner of five dogs, including miniature Aussies who “everyone ooh’s and aah’s over”and Punk, a pit bull who lost an eye in an accident when he was three years old.

People tend to be more wary of him, and he usually doesn’t go out on photo shoots with her.

But during a recent photo shoot for 8-year-old December Diamond, Jamie decided to bring Punk along.

“I played with him in the field like we always do, then I heard them pull up,” wrote Jamie in a March 3 Facebook post, which has been shared by tens of thousands in the days since.

My dog met strangers today.

Would they look at him weird because he has one eye? Would they shy away and be scared because of his size, because of his breed? Would she be scared of him and not want to be in the session with him?

Would his feelings be hurt today, like many other days, because people didn’t want to be around him even though he so obviously was friendly and wanted to just be close to them? Would I spend another night giving him extra love and telling him how good of a boy he is because it breaks my heart too?

But the results speak for themselves. “My dog made a best friend today,” wrote Jamie.

The series of photos that accompany the post show Punk running along with December through a field of daffodils, gazing up at her adoringly, and even reaching out a paw for the young girl to shake.

It makes my heart so incredibly happy when someone allows Punk to show them that Pitbulls aren’t the stereotype they have. He is the sweetest, smartest, most loving dog you’ll ever meet.

He posed for pictures, he watched her, he adored her. Just look at the way he looks at her, see how he watches over her- a complete stranger.

Jamie’s post has racked up thousands of adoring comments as well, with many thanking Punk for serving as such a great ambassador for the breed:

Jamie has even taken some readers’ suggestions to create a calendar that features Punk and other “bullied breeds that have modeled for me,”including German shepherds, Boxers, and Great Danes.

What a great way to help advocate for and show the sweet side of this wrongly maligned breed, but especially for Punk, who just wants the opportunity to play and love.
