Music is a wonderful way to lift our spirits and bring us together, even in quarantine. That’s why fans were thrilled when “The Voice” returned on May 4.
This season’s top 20 contestants will compete to be one of the nine people who make it to the next round, but first, they helped superstar James Taylor bring listeners love and hope.
With so many at home because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Taylor, the competition’s “Mega Mentor,” wanted to do something special.
So he teamed up with the contestants to virtually perform a breathtaking cover of his “Shower the People.”
Not only do their voices blend beautifully with Taylor’s, but the powerful lyrics also serve as a balm for those who are struggling. “Shower the people you love with love, show them the way that you feel / Things are gonna be much better if you only will.”
In a video of the performance, we see footage of essential workers fighting on the front lines. If anyone needs extra support right now, it’s them!
But the message applies to each and every one of us. We need to take care of one another, and be there for our neighbors in their time of need!
This collaboration is the medicine we didn’t know we needed! James Taylor is a treasure, and so are all the talented singers who came together to encourage the world. While we know only one person can win “The Voice,” every contestant is a winner in our book.
