Cheerleading Squad Made Up Of Children With Special Needs Makes State Championship.

Just because a child has disabilities, it doesn’t mean they can’t or don’t want to do the same things as everyone else.

No matter their differences, every kid deserves to feel like they fit in. That’s the message behind Inspire, a cheer program at Empire Cheerleading in Benton, Arkansas. Created five years ago, the group’s mission is to give special needs children a chance to have fun and connect with their peers through the sport.

Cheerleaders of all abilities are welcome. And parents don’t have to pay a dime for their kids to join because the team is funded through donations.

Not only does the team promote inclusivity, but it also gives its members a chance to accomplish things previously out of their reach.

“I love just getting to cheer them on, I’m their biggest cheerleader,” one mom said. “Every accomplishment is just so much bigger when your child has disabilities. Those milestones mean a lot more.

In 2018, Inspire participated in Arkansas’s first ever Special Olympic State Championship. And now, Inspire even has two teams: Red and White, both of which made it to this year’s state championship.

The people who run the program want to make sure it sticks around, so recently, the athletes performed in front of thousands, encouraging them to donate. They ended up inspiring more than just their in-person audience. People from all over have seen their videos on the internet and love what they’re all about.

“That is a great idea,” one viewer wrote. “This is a good program for kids.”

“God bless them. So wonderful that they are normal kids enjoying themselves,” another added.

Here’s to many more years of making friends, competing, and inspiring others for these talented kids! Learn more about the Inspire cheerleaders in the video below, and share to show your support for such a fantastic program.
