15 Irish Dancers Line Up, But Sudden Music Change Brings Crowd To Their Feet.

During Season 8 of Britain’s Got Talent, members of Northern Ireland’s Innova Irish Dance Company gave a stunning performance combining traditional Irish dance with contemporary moves.

It’s always amazing to watch a talented group perform music, dance or whatever other art form they’ve worked for years to perfect. But there’s just something extra special about turning something traditional, and dare we say predictable, into something completely unique by adding a modern twist.

Remember that story we ran earlier this year, about a high school dance team whose one-of-a-kind take on the “Wizard of Oz†blew up the Internet? The video below is a few years old, but it’s a perfect example of that same kind of ingenuity and proof that the creative spirit is alive and well.

During Season 8 of Britain’s Got Talent, members of Northern Ireland’s Innova Irish Dance Company stood on stage, dressed uniformly in red dresses and black tights. For the first 10 seconds, it looks like just your standard Irish dance, with swiftly moving feet and legs and stiff upper bodies.

But then there’s a pause in the music, the beat kicks in, and next thing you know, they’re dancing to LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”and Pitbull’s “Timber.”Musically speaking, you can’t get much farther than that from the fiddle. But they couldn’t have given a more impressive performance!

The group didn’t win the season, but they’re definitely on the world’s radar now. Ultimately, the dancers say, the dream “is for Innova to become Riverdance. We would like to do something like they did.â€

And by the looks of it, they’re well on their way to achieving that goal.
