For countless fans, baseball is much more than a game.

One fan, Dave, found it to be a great way to connect with his mom, something that has continued to be true even now that she’s no longer with us. That’s why, on Mother’s Day, it only made sense that Dave head out to kayak in McCovey Cove.

This bay is located just outside of Oracle Park, AKA, the home of the San Francisco Giants. Dave had been especially missing her that day, and he hoped that a little time on the water with the game nearby would help cheer him up. Little did he know how right he was!

As luck would have it, Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski hit the ball so out of the park that it flew over the stadium, into the bay, and mere feet in front of Dave’s kayak! Needless to say, it was a moment he’ll never forget!

“Mom, I know you’re up in heaven – here’s a Mother’s Day ball to you,” Dave said. “You’re the best.”

Watch Dave dedicate the ball he caught to his beloved mom below, and don’t forget to share.
