He Never Got The Chance To Ask For Her Dad’s Blessing, What He Did Instead Brought Me To Tears Within Seconds

Tyler Shelton wanted a father’s blessing before asking his longtime girlfriend Haylee for her hand in marriage.

Unfourtuntantly he never had the chance.

Greg Rose, Haylee’s father, died unexpectedly due to complications from an enlarged heart. Since Tyler couldn’t ask her father directly, he did the next best thing.

Tyler separately asked each of Haylee’s three older siblings for their blessing over the marriage. His intentions were well received and they all seemed thrilled to have Tyler a soon-to-be part of the family.

Tyler wrote this note to Greg in remembrance and love for his second dad.

Dear Greg,  I’m going to marry your daughter. I always thought of how I’d ask for your blessing, but now that day is here. I wish you were here to hand your baby girl off to me, but I promise to be more than you ever wanted me to be. I want to be the man that shows her love and patience and gives her everything she needs. I’ll tell her exactly how beautiful she is and I’ll show her how to believe in herself. I want to give her experiences people only dream of, and love her unconditionally, because I wouldn’t want to see the world with anyone else. But most importantly, make you proud to call me your son.”
