As a birthday gift to herself, Ellen invited a one of her favorite former guests back to her show. When Ellen invited Lisa, a single mom down on her luck, on her show for the first time, she presented her with a brand new car for her and her four children. Yet, after meeting Lisa face-to-face, Ellen decided a car was simply not enough for the selfless mother, who was responsible for the care of her grandchildren as well. Lisa gladly accepted Ellen's second invitation to appear on her show. For the birthday episode, Ellen explained to her audience that the only thing she wanted for her birthday was to be around people who make her happy. "Lisa makes me happy,” she said. “Where’s Lisa?” Lisa responds joyfully, with a smile and her hands waving in the air. Already happy and excited, Lisa had no idea the multitude of surprises Ellen had in store this time. Initially, after some friendly conversation, Ellen gifts Lisa $1,000 to JCPenney.
