It was a busy Monday evening during rush hour when an ambulance driving through Hyderabad, India, became mired in the heavy congestion. On board was a critically ill patient whose only chance of survival was to get to a hospital as quickly as possible.
When local traffic cop G. Babji saw the ambulance idling on the road, he didn’t think twice about helping them clear the way. In a video that quickly went viral, we see Babji running through the tangled mess of cars, motorbikes, and pedestrians to make a path for the ambulance behind him. He ran for 2 kilometers, about 1.24 miles, all to save the life of a stranger he may never meet.
