Senior Community Sings Together From Balconies During Quarantine.

People around the world are in self-isolation, but the COVID-19 outbreak hasn’t stopped us from lifting each other up.

For the senior residents at Trinity Terrace in Fort Worth, Texas, the best part of living in their retirement community is connecting with neighbors. So instead of meeting in one place, they came together from their balconies!

Armed with sheet music, about 100 seniors stepped outside to form a choir while members of the community’s Ukulele Band played from the ground below.

Line Wilson, Trinity Terrace’s associate executive director, said the idea came from the people singing from their apartments in Italy.

“Everyone was thrilled to be out socializing even from a distance because we’ve been sheltering in place in our apartments so it felt like we were kind of in seclusion,” added Kenneth Knight, the band’s conductor. “The first song we sang, appropriately, was ‘Don’t Fence Me In.'”

Because the first gathering was such a hit, the community plans to do it every week from now on! After all, resident Connie Pannell said it left everyone with “a wonderful feeling of group unity and encouragement.”

Becky Hartman, another resident, added, “It’s just great to be together and be able to do this.”

Now more than ever, it’s vital that we stick together – even from a distance!

Not only have these folks found a way to have fun, but they’re also supporting each other during these difficult times. Stay safe, all of you, and keep singing!

Not to mention, they aren’t the only Texans belting it out from their homes!
