Judge Cries When Couple Adopts 4 Siblings To Keep Them Together.

When we think of the adoption process, it usually involves taking in an infant or very small child. That’s because it’s very common to adopt children within that age range. But the older a child is when placed into foster care, the harder it is to find a home for them.

If they’re put into the system with siblings, sadly, there’s also a good chance they’ll be split up.

For a group of siblings who endured years of abuse, being split up in foster care felt like a nightmare scenario.

17-year-old named Alisia, her 16-year-old brother Bradley, a second brother, Cody, age 15, and the youngest, Emma, age 11, had no parents and were in desperate need of a home together.

It seemed more and more likely that they would be split up with Alisia and her sister Emma being sent to one home and her brothers, Bradley and Cody, sent elsewhere.

But as luck would have it, right at that moment, Eric and Phyllis Watson had been approved to become foster parents.

Eric, youth director of Faith Baptist Church in Olathe, Kansas, said he believes “God’s hand has been all through this process.” Eric and Phyllis originally had different plans. “We were thinking one foster child at a time. Maybe two? We weren’t thinking four at once.”

But just as soon as they got their foster care license, they learned about the four siblings. Without hesitation, Eric and Phyllis asked to bring them all home.

It was an instant match and to the joy of Alisia, Bradley, Cody, and Emma, they found a loving home with kind parents. The joy was mutual so the Watsons started the process for adoption.

On March 12, 2018, the adoption was finalized and the overwhelming joy of the Watson family moved District Judge Kathleen Sloan to tears.

It was no doubt overwhelming to be part of something so beautiful.

Alisia would have aged out of the system in a matter of months. Now she no longer has to fear what the future will bring for herself or the three siblings she would have left behind. They are all loved and cared for.
