If there’s one thing we know, it’s that Murphy’s Law is 100% real, especially when live television is involved.
As soon as cameras start to roll, it’s just a matter of time before “anything that can go wrong, will,” – and often with hilarious results. Television and movie blooper reels are always fun to watch, but when Ellen DeGeneres put together a series of clips where things didn’t go as planned on her popular talk show, the result is a video that’ll have you rolling on the floor with laughter!

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned from doing 2,499 shows, it’s that things don’t always go as planned, and that is okay,” Ellen says at the start of her video compilation. Boy, is she right on the money!
With all of the special guest stars, kids, and animals that Ellen has on her stage, it would be a miracle if funny moments didn’t happen. Take, for instance, this accidentally intimate moment Ellen shared with a boa constrictor.

Funny people just tend to do funny things – who knew?
Yet even the guests who aren’t known for their comedy seem to get a little bit goofy with Ellen, like the time Jennifer Lopez admitted that she had bronchitis while giving Ellen an interview. Ellen wasn’t nuts about sharing the same breathing space with someone who’s sick, so J-Lo responded by crawling into her lap and cuddling up!

There are so many moments where Ellen’s staff puts on a silly outfit for a bit, but things go a little sideways… Like the time she had her producer, the long-suffering Andy, dress up as a giant tortilla chip and jump into a vat of guacamole.
What could possibly go wrong?

Poor Andy. Then again, drowning in guacamole is one of the more preferable ways to go, if you ask me!
Then there was the time when a stagehand managed to drop an expensive TV right on the floor, shattering the screen. Whoops! Let’s hope that doesn’t come out of his paycheck.

While it’s usually Ellen who does the surprising, one time Steve Carell sneaked up behind the host and got her good. Just look at that face:
