Doctors Told Woman She Wouldn’t Make 40, So She Lost 405 Lbs And Became Triathlete.

At her largest, Elena (Elle) Goodall weighed over 400 pounds. She would frequently eat three large meals when she sat down for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Elle couldn’t tie her own shoes and if she sat down on the ground, she couldn’t get back up. Despite all that, though, the Australian woman didn’t have her wakeup call until doctors told her she was putting her health at risk – in a big way.

Elle’s doctor’s told her she wouldn’t make it to 40 if she kept up her eating habits.

Determined to make a change, she started eating right.

But that wasn’t it. Elle knew that with all the obstacles she was about to encounter, she had to work towards something to truly make a change. The challenge? Elle says, “The triathlon has always been the ultimate for me – it’s three sports in one.”

So she hit the pool, the road, and the bike. “Did my first spin class ever it hurt all over,” she wrote on Instagram. But she kept going back.

Slowly but surely, Elle saw her body changing. And with it, so did her outlook on life.

“I cry because of how proud I am in less than 2 years I have turned my life around from nearly losing my battles with weight and fast food.”

Instagram

Elle crushed it at her first triathlon and quickly set a new goal to complete her second. Her body continued to transform with hard work and strength of mind.

And after completing her second competition, Elle went on to conquer the Cairns Ironman.

“I just want to prove to people that if you reach…” a point in your life like she did, “…there is something you can do, and you can save your own life.”

What an inspiring transformation!

What a day!. The toughest race I have done to date in a whole different way, the lead up to this race was so unknown we really didn’t know 100% if the race was going to happen 2 weeks before it did the journey in the lead up was up and down, races all around us were posted then cancelled and I was sure that was going to happen for cairns it was postponed so September is not a usual time of the year for this race to be held and I’m telling you right now i know why! HOT 🥵 would be the best way to Describe it, the water temp was edging towards 28•c but they were encouraging wetsuits because of the possibility of stingers I feel like I would have lost 5 buckets of water in sweat just on the swim then the whole bike leg I was trying to catch up with my hydration! Thank goodness I have switched my nutrition to @infinitnutritionoz I don’t like sweet especially when it’s hot so my #customblend is minimal sweetness but I struggled as at aid stations they were giving bottles full of ice and in that heat all I wanted was ice I couldn’t cool myself no matter what I did iced water just seemed to hit the spot, so I wasn’t getting all my nutrition in as planned because I was drinking to much water so that with a mix of the heat and burning sun was a mix to make any race tough, I wanted to quit I got a flat, I wanted to quit, it was hot I wanted to quit but for some reason I got back on that bike, I suffered in the run that I was sure I wasn’t going to get through but I did and it was hell all of it felt like death, I have never said that about a race before, so what I am taking from this is I finished, I bloody finished despite my body checking out I did it, I gave up on getting a great time in the 2nd half of the bike leg and it just became more of a “if I make it to the finish line that’s bloody epic” and I did!. EPIC 🤙🤙. #imcairns
