Woman Gets Surprise Note From Drug Addict Who Robbed Her 5 Yrs Ago.

Most people’s wallets are stuffed full of valuable things that we don’t want to lose track of, from cash and credit cards to gift cards and identification.

For this reason, anyone who’s ever lost a wallet can tell you that replacing all of those items is truly a pain in the neck.  You’re not only out the cash you can’t replace, but you’ve got to cancel all of your credit cards, go to the DMV for a new driver’s license, and replace all of those business cards and store loyalty cards you’ve been stashing since the beginning of time.

Five years ago, an anonymous Redditor had her wallet stolen right out of her purse. She no doubt experienced a lot of turmoil and emotion as she made the sad realization that someone had stolen from her, and then she had to jump through all the aforementioned hoops to get herself back to square one again.

Most likely, she assumed the incident was well over and done… until five years later, a strange letter arrived at her office.

Inside the envelope was a typed note and seven crisp twenty dollar bills. When she read the letter, she was blown away.

“About 5 1/2 years ago I did something very terrible to you, I stole your wallet out of your purse. I was a drug addict wanting to take money from whoever I could to get my next high. I didn’t even know you, I pickpocketed you and took it right out of your purse. I took the best buy card you had in it and whatever cash that was in it and threw the wallet in a trash can next to a store.

Not to long after that I landed in a treatment facility and got sober. I’ve been sober for 4 years now and just recently found your Best Buy card in a bag of old stuff. I looked up your name and found where you worked. So here I am.

I can’t imagine the frustration and despair I put you through not to mention all the time and effort looking for it and getting all new stuff. It is unforgivable what I have done but I would like to pay you a small amount of money for it.

I will also never hurt someone in that way ever again and will continue to live an honest life.

I wish you nothing by happiness, prosperity, and good health.”

The person who wrote this letter is clearly on a better path now, and it’s so heartwarming that after all those years, they still felt the need to make amends for the trouble they caused this woman. Sometimes, being sorry really is enough, especially when that sorrow is backed by meaningful actions like these.
