Doomsday Prepper Stockpiled Supplies For 40 Yrs— Just Gave It All Away To Amazing Cause.

Joseph Badame and his late wife hoped for the best but planned for the worst.

As doomsday preppers, the couple spent more than four decades building and stocking a bunker in their basement. They wanted to be prepared if any catastrophe took place. The lead-lined bomb shelter was filled with food and supplies that could accommodate 100 people for the foreseeable future.

Recently, though, Joe lost his home to foreclosure. But instead of just trashing all the food, as he didn’t have a place for it, he donated it to a worthy cause.

During the Medford, New Jersey, man’s estate sale, he met Victoria Martinez-Barber and her husband, Anthony. They owned a local food truck and had stationed outside Joe’s home. All their proceeds from that day were going towards helping Victoria’s family who’d been left homeless, starving, and without power after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico.

Struck by the couple’s story, Joe donated $100 and made them an offer they couldn’t refuse: Victoria and Anthony could take all of his doomsday provisions. “These people are dying. They have nothing,” Joe says about his grand gesture.

According to ABC 6, each barrel weighs “about 300 pounds and [is] packed with items like rice, beans, and flour.” One barrel has enough provisions to feed more than 80 people for four months. Also in the bunker were medical supplies.

The couple is working hard to get all the supplies out of the bunker and they’ve arranged for the first shipment to go out on Monday. The plane will quickly turn around and the rest of the barrels will be shipped shortly thereafter.

Anthony and Victoria were so inspired by Joe’s generosity that they’ve been in touch ever since. According to HuffPo, the widower is now staying on the couple’s property in an RV – they consider him a new family member.

It’s wonderful to see strangers in a community come together for a common goal – saving lives. Joe always had plans for the food and supplies to help people survive… and now he’s getting his wish.
