Dominique Burton and Benjamin Kosberg of St. Louis, Missouri, have plenty of free time these days.
The roommates are among the millions staying at home amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, and they’ve been feeling a little stir-crazy. Thankfully, the two recently discovered a perfect way to turn quarantine into an uplifting experience for their entire neighborhood.
They both play the tuba and trombone, so one day, they decided to take their instruments outside for an impromptu marching concert down the block.
As they exchanged instruments, they played hits like “Do Watcha Wanna” and the late Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day.” Their neighbors enjoyed it so much that they went back out the next day!
Adrienne, who lives on their street, recorded their beautiful take on “Stand By Me” during one of their heartwarming performances.
In a video posted online, we see two people dancing across the street to the sound of Dominique and Benjamin’s music.
While we can’t see everyone else clapping and cheering for these talented musicians afterward, we know they were there! “I really wish I recorded that part,” Adrienne said later. “It brought tears to my eyes.”
What a powerful way to lift other people’s spirits! These performances have become so much more than a way to pass the time. They’re a bright light everyone needs right now.
Watch Dominique and Benjamin spread happiness throughout their neighborhood in the video below, and share the music to make someone’s day. For more stories of joy and hope, check out the Coronavirus Good News Dashboard.
My sister lives in St. Louis and just sent me this. Apparently these two did it last week and the whole block cheered them on. pic.twitter.com/YHXpNLNgE9
