The first time Maddi saw her Boxer lying on top of his much bigger sibling, using him like a living, breathing throw pillow, she thought maybe it was just a phase he was going through.
If, as some suggested, he was doing it in some show of dominance — well, that’d be a pretty bold move for such a little guy, considering his “pillow”is at least double his size and weight and could probably pin him to the floor with a single, well-timed roll.

But here’s where it gets interesting: this wasn’t a one-time thing. Maddie kept catching her dog sitting on his sibling.

When Maddi tweeted about the phenomenon, she was flooded with replies.

Many of the responses came from people whose Boxers do the exact same thing.

“This has to be a boxer thing omg”

But wait. It appears this little quirk isn’t exclusive to boxers.
Unlike cats, we can usually hazard a pretty good guess as to why dogs do the things they do. Why should they go through the trouble of actually walking over to the dog bed in the other room when they have a nice, warm, furry substitute right over there?

Maybe they just want a change of scenery.

Or they heard something outside and need a “booster seat” to check it out.

“Too … tired. Can’t … move … another … inch …”

“Get off my face. When I want to sniff your butt, you’ll be the first to know.”

Someone needs to learn how to sit like a lady …

And as for this little cutie, it looks to us like she’s not quite ready to cut the cord just yet …
