Dear Mama In The NICU, I Don’t Know You, But I Pray For You.

Dear Mama in the NICU,

I pray for you. I don’t know you, but I was in your place once before, even if it was for just a short time. I sat there in that chair you know so well either holding my little love or staring through the glass walls that protected him when I wasn’t able to hold him.

I pray for you.

I don’t know you, but I think of you often and I want you to know that there are people in the world whose hearts go out to mamas like you – mamas who may find themselves in this painfully beautiful place of extreme gratitude and deep fear.

I pray for you.

You may be scared, mama, but your bravery will build the foundation for your path.

You may be sad, mama, but your love will flourish that path with hope and joy.

You may feel broken at times, mama, but your strength will power each moment with light.

You may feel weary at times, mama, but your soul will carry you through this, even it is just one moment at a time.

A Place Within Me

I pray for you.

I don’t know you, but I want you to know you are going to get through this.

I don’t know you, but I want you to know you will be okay.

I pray for you.

I don’t know you, but I want you to know it is good to acknowledge all of the feelings you are experiencing right now, and that it is brave to ask for help when, where, and however often you may need it.

I don’t know you, but I want you to know you will find strength deep within the cells of your body… strength you never knew was even possible… and you will grow into an even better mother because of it.

I pray for you.

I don’t know you, but I want you to know I think you are a superhero.

I don’t know you, but I want you to know I think you are beautiful.

I don’t know you, but I want you to know I think you are wonderful.

I don’t know you, but I want you to know you are loved.

I pray for you, mama, and I believe in you, too.
