Parents Throw Epic Daddy-Daughter Dance When School Event Is Canceled.

You might have heard of James Breakwell. The dad of four is known for documenting hilarious interactions with his kids on social media under the name @XplodingUnicorn. His little ones range from 4 to 9 years old, so they’re still young enough to think James is the coolest ever.

Like most of us, James and his family members are adjusting to homeschooling, social distancing, and canceled events during COVID-19. His daughters were especially bummed out when their school’s daddy-daughter dance was postponed.

The four of them “love to dance,” so “they were really disappointed” to hear the event wasn’t happening.

Fortunately, their mom came up with a perfect solution! Instead of heading to school, they could have a dance at home! James loved the idea.

“We had enough people for it,” he said. “There’s an upside to having way too many kids.”

They didn’t tell the girls what they were up to so they could turn it into a huge surprise!

So while the kids ate popcorn and watched a movie, their parents set up a legendary dance floor. They hung balloons, made snacks, set up a photo booth with a green screen, and strung colorful flashing lights everywhere.

By the end of the movie, James said, “The space actually looked like a real dance.”

Of course, the girls were shocked and thrilled!

They spent the next two hours dancing in their finest party attire, taking silly pictures, playing with glow sticks, and finding countless reasons to smile.

The makeshift event was a blast for each of them, which was the goal all along!

“I hope it created some good memories for them,” James said later. “When they look back at 2020, I don’t want them to remember the fear or uncertainty. I want them to remember having a great time with their family.”

It’s safe to say his mission was accomplished.

What a wonderful way to make sweet memories in this time of social distancing. Great job, Breakwells!
