“The Office” Star Drops 50 Lbs After Drastic Lifestyle Change— & He’s Not Going Back.

In his early years of acting, Craig Robinson was best known for his portrayal of the burly warehouse worker Darryl Philbin on the long-running comedic series “The Office.”

His spot-on, deadpan delivery won him millions of fans, and he’s carried over that success to the big screen, with hits including “Hot Tub Time Machine” and “Pineapple Express.”

But he’s undergone a big change in the last year, which is on full display on “Ghosted,” a new comedy series that premiered on Fox in the fall.

In “Ghosted,” the 45-year-old actor portrays Leroy Wright, a mall cop and former detective who’s tasked – along with Adam Scott – with investigating paranormal activities in Los Angeles. But chasing poltergeists involves a lot of running around, which could have been part of what motivated him to shed 50 lbs over the last year.

He discussed his weight loss journey during an interview on Harry Connick Jr.’s talk show, “Harry,” explaining that he made some lifestyle changes: specifically, going vegan, cutting out alcohol, and working out.

“Since January I just put down the alcohol, I was going to detox … I was like, ‘Let me see if I can go six months,’ and I just haven’t gone back,” he said to loud cheers from the audience.

When you’re trying to lose weight and get healthy, every calorie counts. On average, a pint of beer has roughly 200 calories, about the same amount as in a bourbon or whiskey and coke – so that was definitely a smart move!

Cutting out alcohol was probably much easier than transitioning to a meat-free, vegan lifestyle. But Craig admitted it was “much easier than I thought it would be,” especially with so many more restaurants now offering meat-free dishes. (But remember, it’s important for anyone considering making the switch to supplement their diets with vitamins and incorporate foods high in B-12, zinc, and iron.)
