Stray Cat Follows Random Guy Home— Next Day, Unexpected Visitor Leaves Him Floored.

It is nearly impossible to walk past a stray animal and not be compelled to give them a little scratch or, at the very least, let out a bewildered “Awww”at the fact that they don’t have a forever owner.

So when Connor Murphy came upon an adorable kitten while walking home one night, he naturally couldn’t resist stopping to hang out with the furball for a few minutes.

He snapped a picture with the animal and posted it to his Twitter account with the caption, “Made friends with the most affectionate street cat.” It seemed Connor would be on his way after a few minutes of snuggling with his new little friend, but the cat had other ideas.

Unwilling to give up his sweet new buddy, the cat followed Connor all the way to his home. Rather than leaving the animal outside, Connor welcomed the stray into his abode, where he continued to dole out belly scratches.

During their chill sesh, Connor alerted Twitter that he’s named the cat Socks.

If you’re an animal lover, you know that naming a stray is a big deal. It means you’ve formed a deeper bond with them and likely want to be able to refer to them in a more personal way than “cat” or “dog”.

After watching Socks play and stretch on his porch a bit more, Connor uploaded a photo of a makeshift bed next to a water bowl for Socks to sleep on.

Later that night, he announced that he has to leave but hopes Socks will stay the night, or at least come back to visit. Sadly, he returns the next morning and doesn’t find her at his house.

But then, much to the relief of Connor’s followers, Socks returned later that day!

Connor goes on to post that he’s “gonna buy her food and flea medicine tomorrow and start researching cat things because I have no idea how to cat but she loves me.” Despite the fact that he’s allergic to cats (“this is truly an odd couple sitcom moment,” he says), Socks has won over his heart.

Connor’s got jokes!

After a trip to the vet, Connor confirmed that Socks doesn’t have a chip, meaning no owner it out there looking for her.

Whether Connor knows what he’s doing or not, Socks isn’t leaving him any choice. She chose him.

Now, Connor and socks are the cutest of friends. He continues to update his followers about their adventures together, and, to be honest, it’s the cutest thing. Whoever said dogs are a man’s best friend clearly hasn’t seen the bond between Connor and Socks.
