This Moving Company Is Offering Free Services To Survivors Of Domestic Violence.

In domestic violence situations, victims often have a hard time leaving their home for a number of reasons. One of them is the financial burden of moving their belongings out.

Now, they no longer have to worry about that obstacle, and it’s all thanks to a moving franchise that is offering their services free of charge to anyone escaping an abusive home.

College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving offers services from 130 locations across the U.S. and Canada, and they recently started providing free moves to victims of abuse. This is especially important in the midst of COVID-19 because there has been a serious increase in domestic violence since families have had to go into lockdown.

“As a purpose-driven, socially-conscious organization, we’re always looking for ways to positively impact our communities – in this case, particularly for those who feel powerless in unhealthy home situations,” said Nick Friedman, the company’s co-founder.

The organization works directly with domestic violence shelters and services, so people who need help can set up a move through a shelter. Then, the shelter, moving company, and local authorities work together to organize everything and ensure the victims and movers aren’t at risk.

“It’s our hope that once the health crisis passes, those who survived domestic crisis will have an opportunity to heal in a safe, new space,” Nick added.

College Hunks isn’t the only company that offers free moving services to people in dangerous situations. Meathead Movers will also help survivors get out of unsafe homes, free of charge. They are available in more than 400 cities in the U.S., so if someone can’t access College Hunks, they have more options!

This is such an important way to help people in their time of need. Here’s hoping this becomes a common trend in the moving industry!
