In Wake Of Dallas Tragedy, Chewbacca Mom Sings Viral, Heartfelt Rendition Of Michael Jackson Song

Candace Payne is the internet’s newest viral star. She’s spread joy to over 136 million people on the web just from a 4 minute video of her straight belly laughing over a new souvenir! Donning the now famous Chewbacca mask, her joyful hysterics continue to spread smiles all over the world.

On Saturday, the world renowned Chewbacca mom posted another video to her facebook page, but this time, her post carried a much more serious tone. Payne decided to share a song with the world, in response to the death of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and the five police officers killed in Dallas last week.

“I’ve been spreading joy … but I’ve found myself the last couple days being silent, because I’ve been so sad and so hurt by what’s going on,” Payne, who lives about 30 minutes from Dallas, says in the video.

“I wanted to just share with you my own arrangement of a song … that has really meant something amazing to me,” she explains before launching into a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Heal the World.”

This beautiful melody of hope feels like a sanctuary in the midst of the tragic events that occurred last week… we can all learn from her message.

Share and spread some perspective.
