“Random Acts of Flowers recycles and repurposes flowers by engaging dedicated volunteer teams to deliver beautiful bouquets and moments of kindness to individuals in healthcare facilities across the country.”
Back in July of 2007, Random Acts Of Flowers‘ founder, Larsen Jay, was in a near-fatal accident. While he was confined to his hospital bed, Larsen was comforted by daily visitors and dozens of beautiful floral arrangements.
But as soon as Larsen was capable of leaving his room he noticed something troubling about his fellow patients — many of them didn’t have visitors or flowers, the very things that helped him so much in his early days of recovery.
Within moments the very first “random act of flowers” delivery took place, as Larsen took some of the flowers from his room and distributed them to nearby rooms. The smiles and impact this simple gesture had on his fellow patients inspired Larsen to start Random Acts Of Flowers in 2008. What started in one hospital in Knoxville, TN has now spread to three different cities and has brought smiles to more than 74,000 people in need.
