Boyfriend Hijacks Smithsonian Event For Secret Proposal Using Anonymous Post Card.

A Smithsonian event all about anonymous secrets turned into a very public moment for one special couple. Frank Warren started a project with the Smithsonian museum back in 2004 with the goal of showing the power of a postcard. For the past 12 years, supporters have sent Warren cards anonymously and each beautifully showed some element of the human condition. Warren has received more than 1 million post cards from all over the world, and they keep pouring in.

At this year’s PostSecret event, guests were treated to a private viewing of the exhibit. But before the DJ and the cocktails came out, Warren was on hand to share some of his favorites. We’ll let you in on a secret: The last postcard he read was part of a incredibly romantic plan.

The plan was created by Stephan Evans, a 29-year-old government contractor, who wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Ashley Ortiz in a very original way.

Evans had contacted Smithsonian officials, wondering if they would place a proposal postcard in the exhibit, and they loved the idea. “It just snowballed from there,”he said.

As Warren began to read the postcard, realization slowly dawned on Ashley’s face, and the moment is just too sweet.

“There’s never been a better ending to a PostSecret event in 12 years,”Warren said.
