Rescued Calves In Ontario Meet For First Time & We’re All Just Melting.

This safe haven may be called the Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary, but co-founder Megan Mostacci and her husband take in more than just goats.

This farm in southern Ontario is home to a wide variety of (formerly) unwanted farm animals, the majority of whom would’ve otherwise ended up at slaughter houses. It offers their first taste of freedom and since they know they’re safe here, they’re finally able to let down their guards and start making friends.

Calvin, for example, was born in mid-July, but was taken from his mother, a dairy cow, just hours after he was born. Thanks to the intervention of a local rescue group, he was whisked away to the sanctuary, where he’ll be safe and lovingly looked after for the rest of his days.

He was smitten from the moment he arrived, and immediately took up with the farm’s two resident dogs, a Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever named Drake and Lincoln, an Australian shepherd.

Before long, Calvin was feeling pretty good about life there and ready to join the welcoming wagon. And he got his chance earlier this month, when another adorable black-and-white calf arrived on the scene.

This baby, Zoey, was also taken from her mother just hours after birth, arriving at the farm when she was just one day old. She’d been through so much drama in such a short period, she must’ve thought that was just her lot in life.

But Megan helped her get acclimated to her new surroundings by placing her with yet another recent arrival, an elderly cow whose babies had also been taken away shortly after birth. This 12-year-old former dairy cow was born blind, but she didn’t have to actually see the little baby nursing for all that pent-up maternal love to start coursing through her veins.

Hanging out with mom, even a surrogate mom, is fine for a while. But this little girl needed to find some friends her own age. Megan hosted her first meet-and-greet with Calvin earlier this month, and it’s truly the most adorable thing you’ll ever see.

You know how most kids are shy and just kind of circle each other for a while before finally gathering up the courage to walk up to each other? This first introduction is just like that, but it doesn’t take nearly as long for these two babies to get around to the cow equivalent of a handshake:

There’s nothing better than making a new friend!

They’re so comfortable with each other now, they’re happy to just lie there in silence and enjoy each other’s company…

Meanwhile, Megan plans to build a two-acre enclosure for her blind cow (also unnamed, but Megan’s accepting suggestions!) and these two sweet babies and has launched a GoFundMe campaign. To donate, click here.

Watch the beginnings of what’s sure to be a beautiful friendship in the clip below. Share if watching this makes you want to go out and buy yourself a farm right this minute.

The long awaited meeting of Calvin and his little sister 🐂❤️🐄
