Benny’s first reaction to someone coming to his kennel was understandable: disbelief.
He’d sat in his small kennel day in and day out as strangers walked by, ignoring his need for love and attention. Despite being a healthy, kind animal, the clock was slowly winding down on his chances for a happy life. Benny had been at the Carson Animal Care Center for what probably felt like ages. But the day finally came when his forever family was ready to take him home. And he just couldn’t believe it.

Unfortunately, the California rescue is a high-kill shelter, so Benny’s luck came just in time to save his life. But when a volunteer came into his kennel to bring him out to his family, Benny was hesitant, to say the least.
He cowered in the back at first.

But when he finally realized what was happening, he slowly walked toward the shelter staffer and accepted the leash they offered.
From there, when he walked out of his kennel, his transformation was instantaneous. The shy pup went from withdrawn and scared to bouncing off the walls with excitement and anticipation!

This was going to be his last day in the shelter – and he knew his forever family was waiting for him!
He could barely run a straight line, he went from jumping around the person walking him to running up to other dog kennels and back to running again.
