Her Daughter’s Had A Very Tough Life, But This Kind Astronaut Just Made Her Dreams Come True.

Abbey McAuley is a fourteen-year-old girl who was born with cerebral palsy… but because of The Sunshine Foundation of Canada she got to have an “out-of-this-world” experience with her hero, Chris Hadfield.

Hadfield is the former commander of the International Space Station – in other words he’s an amazing astronaut – and he had always been a huge inspiration for Abby.

So, in Toronto’s Medical and Related Sciences building (MaRS), Abby’s Sunshine Dream came true when she not only sat down for a lively and interesting chat with her role model, but actually played a duet on the guitar and sand with Hadfield – Abby’s song of choice being “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”  At 2:33 the duet melts my heart.

Hadfield commented on the video saying, “I’d never thought of Over the Rainbow as a spacey song until I met Abby.”

What a beautiful story! Watch below to see sweet Abby’s contagious smile.
