A rescued Pit Bull/German Shepherd mix is being credited with saving his mom and dad’s marriage… and it was all thanks to the help of Twitter!
It all started back in 2012. That’s when high school sweethearts Frankie and Rebecca tied the knot at a young age. Then one year later their family size increased by one.
In 2013, they adopted their sweet rescue dog, Apollo.

But, by 2015, things had changed. The pair realized they both had a lot of growing up to do and separated, although neither filed for divorce. Rebecca kept Apollo and moved to Mercedes, Texas. Frankie stayed in Houston.
Last month, Apollo had his 4th birthday, and Rebecca found a surprise in her mailbox that left her in tears… a birthday card and presents from Frankie.

It turns out, this is the second year in a row that Frankie has done this for Rebecca and Apollo.
“I was surprised he was still doing it,” said Rebecca. “It’s been two years and he still cares very much for us both. It is incredibly heartwarming to know how much he loves us.”
The contents of the letter are the epitome of heartwarming. Below is just an excerpt from the lengthy card:
Watching you grow up from a puppy that fit in the palm of my hand to the overgrown big dog that you are now was nothing short of an adventure, and I loved every moment of it.
There is honestly not one time where thinking of you has failed to put a smile on my face. I will forever be grateful to you for that… There isn’t a day that I don’t think of you.
Take care of yourself and your mom.
Rebecca tweeted about the gift, and the tweet quickly went viral, getting 20 thousand retweets and 50 thousand likes.
Petco saw the sweet and sent Rebeca, Frankie, and Apollo a box full of goodies, including a certificate for a night out.

Twitter users couldn’t help but question Frankie’s motivation…

…and it turns out, they weren’t wrong.
The tweet got so much viral attention, it got Rebecca and Frankie talking again.

They’ve both agreed to give their marriage another try.
“It has gotten us talking again,” Rebecca said. “We decided to try and work on our marriage and go to great lengths to fix the problems we came across. We are taking this all as a sign from God. We believe all of this happened for a reason.”
