Alicia Keys Thanks Frontline Heroes In Powerful New Ballad.

As the world comes together to fight COVID-19, singer-songwriter Alicia Keys wanted to send some extra love to “the engine that makes all things go.”

Her newest song is called “Good Job,” and it’s dedicated to everyone on the front lines of the novel coronavirus battle. While the instant hit features Keys’ trademark piano and powerful vocals, it’s the lyrics that are moving so many to tears at first listen!

“You’re doing a good job,” she sings. “Don’t get too down / The world needs you now / Know that you matter.”

She teamed up with her husband and producer Swizz Beatz, the Dream, and Avery Chambliss last year to write the beautiful words, and Keys told CNN their message couldn’t be more perfect for the current situation.

A lot of times people don’t feel like they’re doing a good job. They feel underwater and like there’s never going to be a brighter day. Fast forward to now, with where we are now, and it’s almost like the song was written for this and I didn’t know it.

Keys originally wrote the song while thinking about her own mother, who struggled to raise her alone in New York City, but the words apply to so many other everyday heroes!

“Whether you’re on the front lines at the hospitals, balancing work, family and homeschool teaching, delivering mail, packages, or food, or facing other personal difficulties because of COVID-19, I feel you,” she said. “You are seen, loved, and deeply appreciated.”

“Good Job” will serve as the new theme song for the CNN Heroes campaign, which aims to celebrate “the ordinary people who’ve emerged as heroes during the COVID-19 crisis.”

The music video shows Keys singing at her piano as images of health care, sanitation, grocery, and other workers appear on-screen.

If you find yourself tearing up as you watch it, you’re not the only one! “Every time I play it, I want to cry because I’m thinking of my mother, I’m thinking of my grandmother, I’m thinking of friends of mine who can’t make ends meet,” Keys said.
