Alex Trebek Thanks Fans In “Mind-Boggling” Cancer Update.

In March, Alex Trebek announced he’d been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and planned to beat the odds. Last month, he told fans he’d be back to host Jeopardy! season 36. We all breathed a sigh of relief, but this latest update is far better.

Trebek just told PEOPLE magazine he’s been responding exceptionally well to chemotherapy and doctors are saying he’s “near remission.”

“It’s kind of mind-boggling,” he said. “The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory…some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent.â€

And who does Trebek give the credit to?

“I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy directed towards me and their prayers,”he says. “I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo, and they agreed it could very well be an important part of this.â€

He’s still undergoing chemo to hopefully reach full remission, and he knows the world is with him in the fight.

“I’ve got a lot of love out there headed in my direction and a lot of prayer, and I will never ever minimize the value of that.â€
