This Dog-Loving NASCAR Driver Is On A Race To “Clear The Shelters.”

Anyone who follows NASCAR driver Alex Bowman knows how much he loves his dogs.

Many of Alex’s Instagram and Twitter posts follow the antics of his canine friends, Roscoe and Finn. Additionally, Alex lists “Dog Whisperer” right under “Driver for Hendrick Motorsports” on his social media bios.

So it makes complete sense that Alex and his NASCAR team’s sponsor would start a charity campaign for animal shelters.

Alex and the No. 48 team have been working with Best Friends Animal Society since the start of the NASCAR season in March. Even better, from August through September, Alex and his sponsor, Ally, ran the “Clear the Shelters” initiative.

“The Ally ‘Clear the Shelters’ initiative is really cool,” Alex said. “Working with Ally all year and working with Best Friends earlier this year and donating to a bunch of shelters, it’s really cool that they are all about giving back and helping a cause that’s close to my heart.”

In the long run, Alex and Best Friends Animal Society hope to end kill shelters.

“Their goal is to end kill shelters and to ‘save them all,'” Alex said. “There’s a lot of animals that are in need of homes and I have a rescue dog named Roscoe, so it’s something I’m really passionate about.”

Ally, the No. 48 team’s sponsor, pledged to donate $1,000 to a Best Friends affiliated shelter near every track the team races in the Cup Series, and Alex promised to match each donation. Whenever Alex wins, Ally will donate $10,000.

Alex and the No. 48 team have won three races so far in the 2021 season, donating $30,000 to help four-legged friends looking for a home.

Like any good animal lover, Alex doesn’t just donate money. He goes to many of the shelters, plays with the dogs there, and brings attention to those in need of adoption.

“I’ve gotten to go to some shelters and hang out with some animals, which has been really cool,” Alex said. “I’ve met a lot of really cool people through that. It’s just really cool to be a part of that. There’s a lot of pets that need homes, and I feel like obviously, we’re kind of scratching the surface and making a small difference. But any difference is better than none.”

We’re thrilled that Alex is helping find these shelter pets the homes they deserve! Don’t forget to share this story to spread this heartwarming campaign, and enjoy the cuteness in the video below.
