There’s so much to explore in our solar system, but the folks at NASA are doing their best to see it all. There are a number of things we can learn about our world through their missions, of course, but there’s something else we love about them… they’re just so cool! While NASA is interested in many elements of space, Mars is certainly near the top of the list.

Over the years, NASA has found ways to venture onto the planet itself, though no human has ever been there. Instead, robots are sent to explore Mars’ surface. While it sure would be a blast to see a human out there, the footage that comes from these robotic missions is still breathtaking. Luckily for us, NASA has given us a peek into the fascinating planet of Mars in the video below.
In this video, we get a firsthand experience of what it takes to safely land a rover on the planet. So many folks work together to ensure it remains safe during its entry, descent, and landing suite. This part of the mission seems a bit nerve-wracking, but the process is certainly awesome to witness!
But NASA has more than visuals to share from Mars. We’ve learned quite a lot about how sound works here. In fact, we even have footage from NASA that includes sound! Check out the video below to experience sound on Mars.

According to NASA, sound is different on Mars — though, not as much as you might think. Mars’ atmosphere is about 100 times less dense than Earth’s. Plus, its made up of about 96 percent carbon dioxide. As a result, you would sound far more muffled when talking on Mars. It would also take a bit longer for your voice to be heard by someone else. Then there are high-pitched noises — some might not be audible at all!
In addition to that incredible video, NASA created two different audio files to show the difference between how someone sounds on Earth versus how they might sound on Mars. You can check that out here! We still have a lot to learn about Mars, and our galaxy in general. But footage and audio like this prove how much exciting progress we’ve already made!
