A Magical Moment At Animal Kingdom With DiVine & My Son With Down Syndrome.

lady divine

I’m constantly hurrying.

My son Alex seizes each moment.

I spend a lot of time helping Alex (who has Down syndrome) develop his ability to pick up the speed a bit. Our world won’t slow down for him, and I want Alex to be able to keep up. It’s important for his future, getting a job, and going through the world.

On our recent trip to Walt Disney World we spent two days at Animal Kingdom, and our second day we went Alex-speed and drank in the magic one sip at a time.

If you have visited Animal Kingdom and seen the vine lady (DiVine), you know how easy it is to miss her if you’re in a rush. We had already watched her for a minute or so and I would have been happy to move along, but Alex was soaking in her beauty.

Then this happened. He is transfixed, keeping eye contact throughout.

I’m grateful I made the conscious choice to pause because that’s how this moment happened.
