But why did this large city – the 6th largest city in Canada, to be exact – enthusiastically insist on keeping her around? Because she “looks after her people, keeps taxes down and bring lots of jobs into the city,” said Hazel herself. One of the biggest factors is that the city is entirely DEBT-FREE and has $700 million in reserves!

If you thought Mayor Hazel McCallion couldn’t get any cooler, you were wrong. Not only did she lead her city in a most fantastic way, she’s also very multi-faceted. The factors that make up her colorful life include her professional hockey career in Montreal. What?!
