“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping,'” Mr. Rogers said. Mr. Rogers was known for his words of wisdom, including the quote from above, which serves as a great reminder that there will always be people who choose to do good, even during the most difficult of times. To help bring light to those kinds of people, we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite “helper” moments below.
1. People usually want to make their birthdays all about them, but this woman has made it a tradition to complete acts of kindness, in accordance to her age, for the duration of her birth month!
We hope she lives a long and happy life!
2. This woman found a way to encourage kindness exactly one year after donating her kidney, aka, on her Kidneyversary!
“I took the day off work to honor it by trekking across NYC and handing out letters to strangers encouraging them to do something kind for a stranger today,” she wrote on Instagram. “My hope is to start not a kidney chain, but a kindness chain.”
3. Natalie Te Paa’s friends wanted her to have the best birthday ever, so they had the restaurant staff write “Happy Birthday” in braille using melted chocolate!
