14 Signs You’re In A Good Relationship

Relationships – probably the most enjoyable, encouraging, and life-giving thing on the planet.  At the same time, they can be tough and frustrating.  That’s why it’s important to assess how a relationship is going… they’re too important not too!

With that in mind, here are 14 realistic ways to know that you are in a good place with your significant other.  Check ’em out and pass this on to your loved ones and friends so they can figure it out with you!

 1. You hear the words “I love you” ALL THE TIME.

Never underestimate these words.  Many people may identify them as cliche, but they are always potent and appreciated.  If this a common phrase, you’re doing well!

2. You put effort into date nights.

One of the first things to go in a long relationship is the desire to romance or date your significant other.  Being intentional to still flirt with and plan fun things for your loved one is uber-important.

3. You’re not afraid to tell each other anything. Really, anything.

It’s all about creating a safe-environment.  Feeling safe is a must in a healthy relationship.

4. You receive little surprises every now and then.

The small things matter… a note here, a bouquet of flowers there, a surprise clean kitchen. Those things feel sooo good.

5. You give little surprises every now and then.

On the flip side, if you’re doing well, you will want to serve your partner.  When you joyfully do things to make him/her happy, you are thriving.

6. You can laugh… while doing nothing.

The two of you are so into each other that all the entertainment you need is, well, each other.

7. You hold hands.

If you don’t want to hold hands, something isn’t right.  Physical affection reflects the state of a relationship.

8. You’re able to talk it out when you disagree.

Life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies… often you will disagree.  But the key is that you can get through conflict and learn from it.  That makes your relationship stronger.

9. You trust each other completely.

When someone asks you if you think your partner is telling the truth, you should be able to say “Absolutely, no doubt.”  If you hesitate, then you should talk about that.

10. You serve together.

If you can collectively put others before yourselves, then you are demonstrating joint selflessness.  This can be really powerful in a relationship.

11. You know, for sure, that you are beautiful (or handsome).

Is this one cheesy? Yes. But is it ridiculously true? Absolutely.  Knowing that your loved one thinks you are attractive is important to keep that “spark” going.

12. Your friends and family enjoy being around your significant other.

If people you respect don’t like that person, then you really need to figure out why.  Wise counsel is always a good indicator.

13. You talk at least once a day.

It’s all about communication. If you don’t tell (or hear) what the other is up to, it’s hard to be on the same page and to really gel.

14. When asked “Who’s your best friend?” you immediately say your loved one’s name.

Along with #1, this is probably the most important. Deep and lasting relationships are built on truly incredible friendships.
