10 Educational Resources For Kids While School Is Out.

With all the school closures happening because of COVID-19, and the giant question mark that is their reopening date, parents all over the country have found themselves stepping into the role of a teacher while also juggling the tasks they managed every day before the closures.

Thankfully, in the wake of everything going on, many online educational platforms are stepping in to help parents get by during this time. A lot of companies that require paid subscriptions are now offering their services for free and teachers across the US are sharing some of their own favorite go-to’s. So, if you’re a parent just trying to keep your kids occupied while also engaged in something educational, here are 10 great resources to help you out.

1. VOOKS

If you’re trying to work from home, or just need a mental break, you can do a virtual storytime using Vooks. It’s ad-free (and there are no in-app purchases) and full of storybooks for your little one to enjoy. They’re currently offering one month for free to help parents get through this tough time.

2. FunBrain

The website FunBrain has games and activities for kids in preschool all the way to eighth grade. It’s free to use and has content for math, reading, and more.

3. Khan Academy

Khan Academy released a great resource for parents who are trying to establish schedules and learning into their child’s day at home. It can be used for parents of kids from preschool to high school.

4. 3P Learning

Parents can get free downloads and other tips from the 3P Learning platform that is designed specifically for distance education. Their content is written for kids ranging from five to 12 years old.

5. Other Goose

Other Goose is offering parents free access to their platform for three full weeks to help them cope with school closures. It has homeschooling content for kids seven years old and younger including schedules, lessons, and more.

6. American Archive Of Public Broadcasting

If you have a history buff on your hands, or just want to keep your kids engaged in social studies lessons, the American Archive of Public Broadcasting has a library full of documentaries, interviews, and other educational programming – for free!

Bamboo Learning gives your kids an opportunity to learn using Alexa. Your kids can learn music, math, reading, and more straight from everyone’s favorite virtual assistant.

8. Discovery K12
You can sign up for Discovery K12 for free and get access to homeschooling resources for kids from preschool to high school. There is content for all of the major subjects and resources on different approaches to teaching.

9. Fluency and Fitness
Fluency and Fitness typically charges a fee for its platform, but is offering parents three weeks free during the COVID-19 closures. There are tons of activities for kids between kindergarten and second grade that get them thinking and moving.

10. PBS Learning
PBS gave you Mister Rogers when you were a kid, so you can trust it’s Learning platform to steer your kids right now. There is content for kids in pre-k all the way through high school and it’s totally free.
