Neighbor Finds Note From Scared 90-Yr-Old, But Heart Breaks When She Reads Simple Request.

The older you get, the more difficult it can be to make friends. Many elderly people express feelings of isolation. They’ve watched the world change around them, and it can be overwhelming to try and keep up.

When a 90-year-old woman named Wanda began experiencing these emotions, she decided she had to do something about it. She hoped and prayed for companionship, but wasn’t sure how to leave her comfort zone and seek out a friend. Then one day, she came up with a plan, and left a note at the home of her neighbor, Marleen Brooks.

Marleen posted the photo on Facebook saying “Came home to this note from a lady that lives down the street from me. Makes me heart sad, but on the bright side it looks like I will be getting a new friend.”

The note read,

Mrs ?
Would you consider to become my friend.
I’m 90 years old- live alone.
All my friends have passed away.
I’m so lonesome and scared.
Please I pray for someone.

Marlene shared the note with news anchor Frank Somerville who posted the photo online with this encouraging message: “I wanted to post this as a reminder that there are a lot of lonely people out there. Especially elderly people. If you know someone like that in your neighborhood maybe consider going over to their home and saying hi. Maybe bring them some cookies too. I guarantee that you will make their day.But at the same time you may also make a new friend. How great would that be?”

Frank later posted an update he received from Marleen (pictured below on the left with Wanda and another friend).

Frank! She’s such a sweet lady! And she was over the moon when we came over. Wanda told me: “I hope you didn’t think I was stupid for writing you, but I had to do something. Thank you so much for coming over. I’ve lived here for 50 years and don’t know any of my neighbors.”

I also made sure that Wanda knew she can call us at anytime and that I’ll be back to spend time with her! I’m sure Wanda and I will have some great times.
