Lauren Trulli and Tom Ciancia met and fell in love at a hospital in Long Branch, New Jersey, so it only makes sense that that’s where he’d want to ask for her hand in marriage.

But he didn’t want to go the pedestrian route, getting down on bended knee in the break room or even hijacking the overhead speaker for his own purposes.

No, this guy instead decided to enlist the help of some Elberon First Aid Squad EMTs to pull off his proposal, a stunt that will live in infamy for years to come.

Tom’s allergic to peanuts, so he faked an allergic reaction and got the EMTs to wheel him in to the emergency room at Monmouth Medical Center, where his now-fiancée works.

All the key players kept up the ruse as he was wheeled on a stretcher through the ambulance bay and back behind a curtained area. Only then did he bounce off the stretcher and pop the question.

“I was so nervous,” Tom admitted. “Imagine if she said no in front of all of our co-workers.”
