“Surprise Squad” Finds Vet In Need, Soon Discovers Heartwrenching Place His Money Goes.

The Fox 5 Surprise Squad is all about bringing joy to deserving people when they least expect it. Their good deeds always impact both recipients and viewers, but– on a recent Surprise Squad excursion– it turned out they were the ones blown away by someone else’s kindness.

It all started on a trip to Alberton’s. Surprise Squad sent Dave to buy peoples’ groceries.

Dave pays for several shoppers, then offers to pay for a woman named Stephanie Sieverding, a veteran. He didn’t know it beforehand, but he’d come to Stephanie at just the right moment.

“This is my last $50. I’ve had to feed myself sparingly,”she said.

Nearby, Stephanie’s brother waited in line with two humble items in hand. Dave soon learns that Stephanie’s brother, Larry “Lar-Dog” Robeson, served in Vietnam. “C’mon, let’s go shopping,” says Dave. “You served us; it’s our turn to serve you now.”

It seems that this sweet story has come to a happy conclusion, but as they shop Lar-Dog tells the Suprise Squad about his “club.” The club, called Bones for Blankets, was started 16 years ago to buy blankets for homeless vets. “I lost three of my brothers,” Lar-Dog explains. “They froze to death.”

Dave was the veteran’s giving heart. Even though he only has the means to buy two small items at the grocery store– and in addition to giving his time to his wheelchair-bound sister– this man has devoted himself to helping others so that no veteran is left cold at night.

What an incredible man!
